New research to develop a set of monetary values for the ‘everyday heritage’ sites that people use and experience around them in their local area using metrics and methods which are required by central/local Government and consistent with HM Treasury Green Book evaluation guidance. Design a state of the art online survey of the national population in England to collect willingness to pay for their local heritage assets. This will develop an evidence base consisting of a set of WTP values for different categories of heritage asset - such as local pubs, parish churches, civic buildings, and places of entertainment – which can be transferred to comparable heritage assets in other localities (known as Benefit Transfer). Develop additional analysis to differentiate the WTP values that heritage sites provide to target socioeconomic, BAME, and other sociodemographic groups.
